Top stories from last week:
- This was a rough west coast swing for the Rangers, losing twice in OT to Vancouver and Edmonton, before getting crushed by Calgary.
- Live From The Blue Seats talked about the Adam Fox contract and the Rangers inconsistency.
- Fox signed a seven year contract extension, locking in their best player to a great deal. There aren’t many big cap implications either, and this was good for both player and team.
- The Rangers have been wildly inconsistent, but their fourth line has been a bright spot.
- Consistent inconsistency has been the trend for the Rangers, but it’s the offense, not the defense, that is causing the problem. Given the issues, perhaps less is more, and the simple solution is swapping Goodrow and Kakko.
- Speaking of Kaapo Kakko – should you be worried? Not yet, but if he and Alexis Lafreniere don’t take the next step, the Rangers are in big trouble. Part of that is getting the right ice time though.
- Another player who is struggling, Patrik Nemeth, may benefit from a healthy scratch.
- There were a pair of prospect moves, loaning Vitali Kravtsov to Traktor in the KHL, and signing Matt Rempe to an ELC. Kravtsov scored a highlight reel goal in his return to Kravtsov.
- Not directly Rangers related, but the Jack Eichel saga finally ended, and he’s in Vegas.
