A rare non-Rangers post, as the Jack Eichel saga has finally ended. He’s been traded to Vegas for Alex Tuch (on LTIR), Peyton Krebs, a 1st in 2022 (top-ten protected), and a 3rd in 2023.
Pending trade call, The @BuffaloSabres trade Jack Eichel and a 2023 3rd round pick, to the @GoldenKnights for Peyton Krebs, Alex Tuch, a 1st in 2022 and a 3rd in 2023.

This is a very light return for Buffalo, and an underwhelming end to the Eichel saga. Given what Sabres fans wanted, which was basically a first born child and the blood of a god. That was clearly not the return. This was a middle-six winger, a solid prospect, and some picks.
The Rangers equivalent here, using the current roster, is something like Sammy Blais, Vitali Kravtsov or Zac Jones, and the picks. A lot of people have subbed Pavel Buchnevich for Blais, which is a much more accurate representation of the trade. However Buchnevich is no longer a Ranger, and timing of trades does matter.
The funny thing is the Rangers likely had more in their offseason offer before Buffalo played hardball. Reading the tea leaves, it sounded like the Rangers had their sights set on Kravtsov, Jones, Strome (salary offset), and at least one first round pick. That is a far better package than what Buffalo got from Vegas.
Either way, the Eichel saga is over, finally. Now we shift to “Tuch to the Rangers.”
I kid, I kid.
