Top stories from last week:
- The Rangers limped into the break with an OT loss in San Jose, a bad loss to Vegas, and a comeback win over Ottawa.
- Live From The Blue Seats talked the Rangers trade deadline plans, which immediately became outdated once Chytil was ruled out for the season.
- In this week’s Patreon post (subscribe here!), Dave talked the true state of the Rangers –note, goaltending concerns– and if we should truly be concerned.
- The big news was the announcement that Filip Chytil is done for the season. This came after a week of hope with Chytil returning to the US and to Rangers practice. His apparent non-contact injury at practice was the final straw. Now we just hope he is ok.
- The other big news was the Rangers waiving Nick Bonino and eventually sending him to the AHL. This was a necessary move. Jake Leschyshyn was recalled briefly when Bonino was waived.
- Another big piece of news was the breaking up of Ryan Lindgren (before he was hurt) and Adam Fox. A defense shakeup was long overdue.
- In addition to Lindgren getting hurt, Jacob Trouba was suspended for 2 games after a phone hearing for his elbow on Pavel Dorofeyev.
- Before all that excitement, we revisited the 2018-2019 fire sale trade tree. It’s not great, but it’s not a disaster either.
- The 2024 Stadium Series jerseys were revealed. Some like them, I’m not the biggest fan.
- JL took us down memory lane with Mike Richter’s moment, becoming the Rangers all time winningest goalie, and forgotten Rangers Jason Ward and Aaron Ward.
- It looks like NHL expansion in Salt Lake City is all but guaranteed.
