The Filip Chytil concussion is a serious concern.

It’s official. Following his setback at practice last week. The Rangers are shutting down Filip Chytil, and he will be out for the remainder of the year. It is obviously tough to see, and we were all hoping for a miraculous and unexpected return following his return to practice. It won’t happen, and now we just hope he is ok and his long term health is not in jeopardy.

With Chytil ruled out, Chris Drury’s top priority is now a 3C. The Rangers will have Chytil’s full LTIR overage to work with, plus whatever cap space they can bank between now and the trade deadline. This is a big loss to the Rangers, obviously, as we’ve seen them really struggle for tertiary scoring without a real third line.
