The hits just keep on coming for the Rangers. Jacob Trouba has been suspended for 2 games following his elbow to Pavel Dorofeyev. The NHL DoPS clearly spun the roulette wheel here, since Brendan Gallagher’s egregious head shot got just 3 more games. There really is no rhyme or reason to these suspensions and it’s become a joke at this point.
In response, the Rangers have recalled defenseman Connor Mackey. It is unclear if he will play tonight, as the Rangers already have Zac Jones up and ready to go. Mackey will play if Ryan Lindgren can’t go.
