Top stories from last week:
- The Rangers had a good start to the week, beating Minnesota and Dallas, the latter in dramatic fashion. They ended the week with a no-show in a trap game loss to Montreal.
- Live From The Blue Seats talked the Kreider injury and Alexis Lafreniere’s big chance.
- In this week’s Patreon post (subscribe here!), we looked at how the Rangers can manage a long term Kreider injury, which appears they may have to do.
- The Rangers lost both Chris Kreider and Julien Gauthier to injuries against Minnesota. Gauthier returned against Dallas but was injured again. There is no timetable for either’s return, and only Gauthier was placed on IR.
- As a response to the injuries, the Rangers made an odd decision to claim Jake Leschyshyn off waivers. JL isn’t good, which was the puzzling aspect of this claim. It makes you wonder what they think of their injury depth too.
- One source of the Rangers offensive issues is the powerplay, which needs some adjustments. Given Kreider’s absence, now is a perfect time to experiment.
- It came out that Ryan Reaves’ trade request was a half truth. The Rangers have always had communication issues, so this isn’t surprising.
- Despite some of the drama, the Rangers still have a shot at winning the Metro Division. A lot of it is due to Adam Fox, who is making his case for another Norris Trophy.
