The Rangers 4th line rotation will be a roller coaster ride for the rest of the season

It was a classic goalie duel in New York. Igor Shesterkin and Jake Oettinger shined, allowing just a goal apiece in regulation. But it was Oettinger that faltered late, with K’Andre Miller beating him with 0.2 seconds left in the game to send the game to overtime before Adam Fox won it. Zero point two seconds.

In what was almost a shutout, it was another story of forward injuries that didn’t help the Rangers. The big injury was Sammy Blais and Julien Gauthier colliding early in the first period. Gauthier didn’t return, and the Rangers looked a step slow after. A game after playing with 10 forwards, they had to go with 11, and it showed. The Rangers looked slow and sluggish most of the game, with just two high danger chances in regulation and shutout for the first 59:59.

That didn’t matter though. Miller, who only seems to score absurd goals lately, tied it. Fox then took an Artemi Panarin pass in overtime and roofed it after deking Dallas into next week and stealing the second point. It wasn’t a pretty game, but it’s a win. This makes up for one of those games in October where the Rangers looked great and lost.

Stars 1, Rangers 0

A soft call on Ryan Lindgren, or at least one that should have been offsetting minors, and a bad line change while on the penalty kill is what doomed the Rangers on the Stars first goal. Tyler Seguin was wide open for the ricochet in the slot, which went right to his tape and he roofed it.

Rangers 1, Stars 1

With 0.2 seconds left on the clock, K’Andre Miller got his own rebound off a blocked shot, and his chance beat Oettinger.

Rangers 2, Stars 1

There aren’t many 3-on-3 goals that have a big breakdown, and this was no different. Chaos in front, Fox got open and ended it.
