Top stories the offseason:

• The Rangers closed up their 2024 preseason with a win against the Devils and a loss to the Islanders.
• Live From the Blue Seats had to pause last week. We will be back this week.
• In this week’s Patreon post (subscribe here!), Dave discussed what will happen when Brennan Othmann gets cut, which happened later that week.
• Othmann getting cut isn’t the end of the world, but he has some work to do.
• The Rangers mostly finalized their roster by waiving Matthew Robertson yesterday.
• The lines against the Isles were pretty close to the opening night lines, but we are still pending word on Artemi Panarin’s availability for the opener. Jimmy Vesey likely won’t be in the lineup either.
• Zac Jones secured his spot as the 3LD with a solid preseason, and he looks like an upgrade on the surprisingly solid Erik Gustafsson from last season.
• Outside of Jones, the Rangers have have a need at LD should Ryan Lindgren’s injury take longer to heal. Russ evaluated the Rangers options should this come to fruition.
• Russ also looked down the road for a future need at RW, should Reilly Smith not work out or Kaapo Kakko simply not be good enough on the third line.
• JL took us down memory lane with The Shift from the Kid Line, as two-thirds of it is reunited to start the season.
