The NEw York Rangers have placed defenseman Matthew Robertson on waivers, likely the last defenseman to get cut unless injuries heal before Wednesday night’s opener in Pittsburgh. Both Victor Mancini and Chad Ruhwedel will remain with the Rangers, with Ruhwedel serving as the 7D both now and when Ryan Lindgren returns. Mancini does not require waivers, and can be returned to Hartford without risk.

The only question now is up front, as Brett Berard, Adam Edstrom, Jonny Brodzinski, Sam Carrick, and Matt Rempe remain with Jimmy Vesey and Artemi Panarin on the mend. I’m guessing Berard will be returned to Hartford once Panarin is cleared before opening night. One more will need to be either waived (Brodzinski/Carrick) or assigned to Hartford (Edstrom/Rempe) once Vesey is cleared.

In addition, Connor Mackey cleared waivers and will report to the Hartford Wolf Pack. Robertson may get claimed due to pedigree, but he’s done nothing at the AHL level to warrant a claim.
