Top stories from last week:
- The Rangers got 3 points out of 4 this week with a win over Columbus before a shootout loss in Toronto.
- Live From The Blue Seats talked Matt Rempe and his explosive debut, plus more trade deadline rumors.
- In this week’s Patreon post (subscribe here!), Dave talked the never ending Barclay Goodrow trade requests from fans, as a buyout is far more cost effective for the Rangers.
- The Rangers have a big need at 1RW, but that may not fix the Kreider/Zibanejad problem on the top line.
- Jonathan Quick re-signed for a one year contract extension and Connor Mackey to a 2 year contract extension.
- Matt Rempe is turning heads, and he may be the new Sean Avery, albeit twice his size, as a skilled agitator.
- Looking at the rumor mill:
- Anthony Duclair is an interesting option at 1RW, and he may be the best of the cheap options.
- Speaking of rumors, Pat Verbeek was taking in the game against Columbus, and naturally more rumors started to fly.
- Speaking of the Ducks, the Adam Henrique and Frank Vatrano rumors won’t go away, with some really stupid proposals from “mainstream” media.
- Even more rumor talk: Vladimir Tarasenko is likely not happening due to CBA rules.
- A Jake Guentzel trade isn’t likely, and it would be expensive.
- The Rangers have been scouting Nashville heavily. Are Gustav Nyquist and/or Tommy Novak on their radar?
- There won’t be a major trade on the blue line, but the top four probably needs a shakeup, much like how the third line got a needed shakeup.
- Rempe and Adam Edstrom are young and need some work, but they clearly belong and will be given 4th line looks next season.
- JL took us down memory lane, when Ryan Callahan dropped 4 on the Flyers and officially began his ownership of the team.
