Rangers re-sign Connor Mackey

The NY Rangers have re-signed defenseman Connor Mackey to a 2 year contract, per Jonny Lazarus.Mackey, signed this offseason to help bolster the Hartford Wolf Pack, has been a pleasant surprise for both the Pack and the Rangers. Mackey became the 8D once Ben Harpur went down for the year, and he has looked solid all year.

Mackey is given credit for starting the Rangers’ 10 game win streak with his fight against Brady Tkachuk as January came to a close. That was his only game with the Rangers this year, and he had a positive impact. He has 2 goals and 11 points in 36 AHL games this year.

Along with Brandon Scanlin, the Hartford Wolf Pack have been locking up key guys for multiple years. It’s clear the Rangers have re-prioritized making Hartford a good place to play hockey. Certainly took them long enough.
