The New York Rangers have traded defenseman Will Borgen to the Boston Bruins for a 2027 2nd round pick and 2028 conditional 3rd round pick. Borgen, initially acquired by the Rangers two seasons ago for second overall pick Kaapo Kakko, had his name floated in rumors earlier. He was initially thought to be part of the Marcus Pettersson trade, but instead he’s going to Boston to recoup some draft picks.

Borgen wasn’t a good acquisition when the Rangers landed him for Kakko, so recouping picks and opening roster space for Sean Durzi and to possibly re-sign Braden Schneider is a good thing. The Rangers have done a marvelous job thus far today. The only real hiccup is that weird Joonas Korpisalo trade.

Credit where credit is due. Chris Drury crushed it this week.
