With the Rangers holding Carson Soucy out tonight for roster management purposes, defenseman Connor Mackey has been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack. To make roster space, forward Anton Blidh was returned to Hartford. Mackey will be an extra body and possibly rotate with Urho Vaakanainen until the Rangers make more roster moves. Scott Morrow will undoubtedly remain in the lineup as the Rangers look to see what they have in the kid.
When Soucy is traded, he will be the first domino to fall in the Rangers retool. We expected Artemi Panarin to be that first domino, but it makes sense that a pending UFA rental would be that first piece to be moved. They are far less complicated to trade and the market is mostly set already.
