Rangers to trade Carson Soucy to the Islanders

Per Vince Mercogliano, the Rangers are preparing to trade defenseman Carson Soucy to the Islanders. A return has not been determined yet, but as a rental Soucy will likely bring back a mid round draft pick. The Isles have all of their third and fourth round picks for the next three years, so that’s the logical guess. Soucy was acquired at least year’s trade deadline in exchange for a third round pick, previous acquired in exchange for Reilly Smith at that deadline.

Carson Soucy to the Islanders is a bit funny, since he’s been objectively bad for the Rangers since his acquisition. The trade for him was questionable at best, so now the hope is Drury recoups some of his acquisition cost.

This appears imminent, but may not be finalized until after tonight’s game against Boston. Expect Soucy to be held out of the lineup tonight.
