The injury bug is biting the Rangers early. Just one game after Vincent Trocheck goes down for multiple weeks with an upper body injury, the Rangers placed Carson Soucy on IR with an upper body injury. Soucy took a rough spill into the boards last night in Pittsburgh. He immediately went to the locker room and did not return. It’s safe to say Soucy’s upper body injury is a concussion, though that will never get confirmed by the NHL.
With Soucy on IR, the Rangers recalled defenseman Connor Mackey. It’s interesting the Rangers recalled Mackey over Scott Morrow, but my guess is they prefer Morrow get big minutes in Hartford instead of rotating as a third pair defenseman and a healthy scratch with the Rangers.
