Per Colin Stephenson, Rangers center Vincent Trocheck is out multiple weeks with an upper body injury sustained in the second period in Buffalo on Thursday night. With Trocheck out, Mika Zibanejad shifts to center between Artemi Panarin and Alexis Lafreniere, and Conor Sheary shifts to wing alongside JT Miller and Will Cuylle. Juuso Parssinen also draws in, replacing Sheary on the third line. This was the expected route for the Rangers to take, though it’s not the preferred route.
There will be a lot of comments about how the Rangers should recall Gabe Perreault to fill in, which is a valid argument. That said, it’s been clear the Rangers brass wants to see what they have in Parssinen, Sheary, and Taylor Raddysh before they rush the kids.
There is no need to rush the kids. Let the vets play in October while the kids get big minutes in Hartford. Come Thanksgiving we will probably see another kid up, especially if Raddysh and Sheary continue to look overwhelmed.
