• The Rangers closed out 2024 with a loss to Florida before beating Boston, losing to Washington, and beating Chicago to start the new year.
• Live From the Blue Seats was off for the holiday. We will be back this week.
• In this week’s Patreon post (subscribe here!), Dave discussed the Rangers lineup decisions and how, outside of the puzzling use of Zac Jones, they don’t really matter if the stars don’t wake up.
• The big news this week was the Rangers claiming Arthur Kaliyev off waivers from the Kings. It’s a low risk move with a high reward if it works.
• The Rangers placed goalie Igor Shesterkin on IR, a big blow to them.
• The Rangers debuted new powerplay units, albeit with just one swap, before reverting back to the originals pretty quickly.
• Not in those new units was Zac Jones, who continually gets scratched for no justifiable reason.
