The NY Rangers have signed prospect Dylan Roobroeck to a three year entry level contract. Roobroeck, a 6th round pick in 2023, is another giant center in the Matt Rempe mold. Roobroeck had an excellent season in the OHL, putting up career highs with a line of 26-46-72 with 101 PIMs.

For what it’s worth, Rempe didn’t have anywhere near the same offense numbers as Roobroeck in his last year in the CHL.

At 6’7 and 205 lbs, Roobroeck is again a giant like Rempe, but appears to have a bit more offensive talent. Like most big kids, skating is always a concern, but he moves well for his size, again a lot like Rempe. Roobroeck will be a regular in Hartford next season, but it isn’t fair to expect him to have the same impact as Rempe in his first pro year.

It’s expected that Roobroeck will be a project pick. Again to level set expectations, it’s exceedingly rare for late picks to become NHL regulars, let alone two that look to be very similar players. Doesn’t mean it won’t happen, it’s just level setting expectations.
