In a move that is likely fueled by ice time, opponent, and ref bias, it looks like Matt Rempe will be scratched for Game 2 tonight against the Carolina Hurricanes. Rempe skated just 7 minutes TOI in Game 1 and barely saw the ice in the third period. He has been used sparingly, if at all, in most third periods this postseason.
Given the quality of opponent, it makes sense to put a more efficient skater and better third period option in the lineup. While there is no word on who will come into the lineup, it’s most likely going to be one of Jonny Brodzinski or Filip Chytil, though the latter might create a need for a more complicated lineup change.
The smart money is on Brodzinski, with Chytil in reserve until he is truly needed.
