Rangers defense injury updates

As the dust from the 2024 NHL trade deadline settles, we have a Jacob Trouba injury that clouds some of the future on the blue line. Per Mollie Walker, the Rangers captain is out 2-3 weeks with a lower body injury. Trouba has missed the last two practices, and this morning it appeared Zac Jones wasn’t a fill-in, but holding down a spot. At least before the Chad Ruhwedel trade.

With Ruhwedel in tow, the Rangers have a chance to rotate between him, Jones, and Braden Schneider up in the lineup to get an idea of the ideal pairings for the playoffs. It’s not expected that the starting six will change, but injuries happen and knowing what some backup options are is good planning.

Given where the Rangers are in the standings, it’s more important that Trouba –and perhaps Ryan Lindgren– gets healthy in advance of the playoffs. Given the Rangers upcoming schedule, Trouba will miss at least 9 games, six against playoff teams.
