Filip Chytil concussion update

It seems to be a day of Rangers injury updates, as we have a Filip Chytil concussion update, and it is not good. Per Vince Mercogliano, transcribed by Phil Kocher, Chytil appears to have hit a wall with his recovery, and it’s not progressing as quickly as anyone would like.

The reset and return to Czechia that the Rangers and Chytil agreed on last week was something both sides felt he would benefit from. Hopefully being in familiar surroundings may speed things up, or at least keep him in a place where he is comfortable.

As you can imagine this is more than just a hockey injury. There are some real concerns. He’s 24 years old with multiple documented and undocumented concussions. There’s a real life health concern, and that is priority number 1. Hockey is a distant second priority.

Just last week, it looked like the Rangers were preparing for life without Filip Chytil for the rest of the season. Now it appears this is much closer to reality than even we had thought at the writing of that post. It feels like a return during the regular season, and possibly even the playoffs, is out the window.

We wish Chytil well, and hope he has a speedy recovery.
