The Rangers have returned forward Adam Edstrom and defenseman Connor Mackey to the Hartford Wolf Pack in the AHL. Of the duo, only Edstrom saw NHL action, scoring his first goal of what will hopefully be a long NHL career. Edstrom moved well and looked good, perhaps showing us he could be the 4C of the future, or even of this season.
Mackey was a recall late yesterday as there were questions about which players would be available for their win in Boston. Luckily he was not needed as the Rangers were as close to fully healthy as they could have been.
Still, each time they make these recalls, they can’t accrue cap space. With both returned to Hartford, the Rangers are back under their LTIR space, so they can begin accruing regular cap space for the trade deadline, assuming no more injuries, of course.
