NY Rangers roster moves: 4 sent to AHL

Some expected NY Rangers roster moves this morning, as Louis Domingue, Dylan Garand, Jonny Brodzinski, and Connor Mackey have been returned to the AHL. The Rangers have done this a few times with the core trio, and while this is a move to bank some cap space, it is also a move to restore some players to the Hartford Wolf Pack, who have three games this weekend. .

Hartford has 3 games this weekend, starting tonight. The Rangers don’t play again until Sunday. This move is likely one to get both goalies to Hartford for their games, plus send some reinforcements in the form of their captain and one of their top defensemen. Sunday is a bit muddy, but I’d expect Domingue to be recalled with Jonathan Quick serving as the Rangers backup. That leaves Garand to start Sunday.

It’s even less clear what the plan would be for Brodzinski and Mackey. They haven’t played for the Rangers yet despite their recalls, so perhaps they stay down for Sunday’s game and the Rangers go with no healthy scratches.
