Jonny Brodzinski earned a roster spot, but will he keep it?

In what is likely another paper transaction move, the Rangers have returned Jonny Brodzinski, Connor Mackey, and Louis Domingue to the AHL. The Rangers did this over the weekend following the game in Minnesota, only to recall the trio a day later. This banks a day of cap space for the Blueshirts.

It’s expected that at least Mackey and Brodzinski will be back before Thursday’s game against the Wild, but Domingue may not be recalled with Igor Shesterkin returning to practice the other day. Depending on the practice schedule, this move may be after 5pm today or after 5pm tomorrow. Since neither has cracked the lineup, it would make sense to do this after 5pm tomorrow to bank an additional day of cap space. In all fairness, I’m unsure how that impacts game eligibility.

LTIR clouds the already confusing cap space formula, at least for me.
