Adam Fox LTIR

The hits just keep on coming for the New York Rangers. A little bit after recalling Jonny Brodzinski yesterday, the Rangers placed defenseman Adam Fox on LTIR following his knee on knee collision with Sebastian Aho. The Blueshirts have recalled defenseman Connor Mackey and goalie Louis Domingue for tonight’s game in Minnesota. Igor Shesterkin will not dress tonight as he is banged up.

The elephant in the room is Shesterkin’s injury, which appears to only be minor. “Banged up” is generally used when they just need a day off, and leaving Shesterkin behind for the trip to Minnesota will hopefully assist in a speedier recovery. Naturally, Jonathan Quick will start in net for the Rangers.

Fox going to LTIR means he will miss a minimum of 3 weeks or 10 games. That puts him in line to return after Thanksgiving, most like on the 25th against Buffalo. This is a big blow to the Rangers, and replacing the best defenseman in the NHL is no easy task. This is their second test of the season, this one of adversity.

It is still expected that neither Domingue nor Mackey will play, as the Rangers still have Quick and Zac Jones. However Mackey could get into the lineup if Jones is unable to hold down a spot. We shall see.
