In response to the Filip Chytil injury, the Rangers have recalled center Jonny Brodzinski from the Hartford Wolf Pack. Brodzinski was the last man cut from the roster at camp, and it was only a matter of time before he was recalled. Brodzinski has a solid 6-5-11 line in 7 games with Hartford this season, leading the team in scoring and serving as its captain.
Brodzinski’s recall likely means that Chytil will not be in the lineup on Saturday night in Minnesota. It could also mean there is little appetite to move Barclay Goodrow back to center or off the fourth line. After all, the best approach is to have as little impact as possible to the lineup.
I’d venture a guess that Vincent Trocheck moves up to the second line and Brodzinski slides into a third line role with Will Cuylle and Blake Wheeler. The fourth line would remain the same in this situation. This kind of shift probably means Tyler Pitlick won’t see the lineup unless a winger is injured.
There is still no update on Adam Fox’s status, but with Zac Jones on the roster, no recall was needed if Fox is out.
