The NY Rangers have recalled forward Jonny Brodzinski from the AHL. Given the cap space woes, this is likely an emergency call up, meaning after three tries the NHL finally gave their seal of approval. Took them long enough, right?
This likely signals Tyler Motte is out for Thursday’s game, starting a new tradition of getting hurt immediately after the Rangers acquire him at the trade deadline. This marks two years in a row he’s had an upper body injury right after coming to Broadway.
In Brodzinski, the Rangers also have the option of shifting Barclay Goodrow to the wing –where he belongs– since Brodzinski is a center. Thankfully they didn’t recall Jake Leschyshyn.
