After yesterday’s head fake, the NY Rangers have started the process of acquiring Patrick Kane, having placed center Jake Leschyshyn on waivers this afternoon. This move was needed to clear up cap space for the eventual Patrick Kane trade. The move was needed by today to clear enough cap space by the March 3 deadline.
It’s expected that Leschyshyn will clear waivers, since many teams passed on him before the Rangers claimed him earlier this year. Leschyshyn on waivers is the first step in clearing the space for Kane.
Kane, as expected is scratched tonight for the Blackhawks.
