Rangers sign Ryder Korczak

The Rangers have signed Ryder Korczak to an entry level contract. Korczak, a Rangers third round pick in 2021 (they traded up for him), had a fantastic season with Moose Jaw this season, putting up 25-54-79 in 68 games. He was close to a point per game in his 2021 draft year as well, which was shortened due to Covid.

Old friend Josh Khalfin notes (private Twitter account) that this is a good contract, we should be tempering expectations. Korczak’s production comes primarily from secondary assists, which can be a bit random and may not translate well to the pro level. Of course, development is not linear and there is no set formula. This is just to temper expectations.

Korczak will turn 20 years old before the AHL season begins, thus he is eligible for the AHL next season. At the very least, Hartford is getting a much needed offensive jolt with Korczak joining Bobby Trivigno, Will Cuylle, Karl Henriksson (probably), Matt Rempe, and possibly Evan Vierling. Only Vierling doesn’t have an ELC from that team.
