trade georgiev

Per Emily Kaplan on the ESPN deadline show, the Rangers are unlikely to trade Georgiev at the deadline. The logic is simple, as there simply isn’t much of a market for him right now and the market for a backup that is at least of equal caliber is barren.

The gymnastics the Rangers would have needed to perform to trade Alex Georgiev, which meant trading him and getting a backup –Keith Kinkaid isn’t the answer– at the same time were difficult to navigate. This was something mentioned on Live From The Blue Seats when we had Arthur Staple on the show.

Georgiev will be Shesterkin’s backup heading into the postseason, and will likely get a bunch of games going forward to keep Shesterkin fresh.
