The Rangers have a game against the Minnesota Wild tonight. But few care. Tonight is about Henrik Lundqvist and his #30 being sent to the rafters. Lundqvist is the best goalie of this generation, bar none. He revolutionized every aspect of the goaltending position, right down to the equipment.

Mats Zuccarello and Cam Talbot are with Minnesota, so they are definitely here. We know Ryan Callahan will be here. There will surely be a slew of others. Lundqvist brought this franchise back to respectability and relevance. He is the reason why many writers here and many fans today watch Rangers hockey. He is, simply put, an icon in New York.

This honor is well deserved. Next stop, the Hall of Fame.
