NY Rangers Game 51 Open Thread: A true must win

The Rangers are back in action tonight in a true must win against the Isles. The Bruins won’t lose, and the Isles are in a tailspin, so to make the playoffs, the Rangers need to catch the Isles. These two games are must wins, and that’s all there is to it. Even with two wins, the Rangers need help. It’s doable, but it begins with a win tonight.

Jacob Trouba is still out, and Chris Kreider may be out as well. That certainly won’t help them score against a very defensively sound Isles team. Luckily they are having trouble scoring themselves, so it might put things up for grabs. Every mistake will matter tonight. A loss and it’s over.

  • Fox for the Steven McDonald award, well deserved.

AT&T has the worst cell service in TX, which is odd because this is where cingular started.

Weirdest thing about U18 is that there’s so many prospects to watch that you have to really have a plan to focus.

    I did not.

    • It’s not the Devs or the Sabres pal. what I said yesterday.

Rangers always have trouble with the Isles’ forecheck.

    • Not for me.

It essentially shows all the doubters what I said was true and that trading Mika is the best move this organization can make right now cause we are a long way off from being a true contender.

While the East to west game looks great against the bottom teams. It is easily exposed with hard forechecking and tight spacing.

But overall mika is just a soft player and even joe and sam are making fun of how weak his attempts to win a faceoff have been. 👀

I am sure you are buying it now.

        • No I don’t want to trade Panarin. He is a amazing player!

What is sad is I argue with you over what is right for this franchise as we are both fans. And the only thing you could do/add is spite.

You are weak human being and honestly you add nothing noteworthy to any discussion. You just sit and wait to pounce on those that make mistakes.

And while I am sure it boosts you weak little ego. It shows exactly how pathetic a person you really are.

I will now do that same thing everytime you post chief. And I hope you enjoy it when it happens to you.

          • Honestly you seem to be pretty weak individual both mentally and emotionally given your response to a legitimate question. I didn’t insult you, but you were awfully quick to insult me.

You’re calling Mika soft, then what is Panarin?

    • Do you really think the problem is Shesty. Should be 4-0. Rangers are slow and letting the Isles go right to the front of the net unguarded

  • So far the Rangers can’t keep pace with the aggressive Islander game plan. The finesse E-W game just wont work . Trotz knows exactly how to neutralize it. The Rangers are getting pushed around, have poor puck control and are and allowing the Islanders too much space. One more Islander goal and this game may be over.

  • The Rangers play college hockey. The Islanders play NHL in your face hockey. In the off season the organization needs to bring in a coach that can teach this team what it takes to win in the big league.

    • I don’t think Torts could make Mika tougher. I just think he is what he is. And while it is acceptable for a winger. Your 1c can’t be that soft.

  • The Rangers need an experienced NHL pro coach and personnel changes so that they can be equipped to play competitive hockey with the big boys. The players on this Ranger team are fragile, not aggressive, not tough, and play a soft European finesse style. Is management listening? We best forget about the playoffs this season.

  • Yeah, pull your goalie with 7 minutes left … and on a PP no less. Brilliant! DQ just lost some big points with me — not that he hadn’t already lost a few just from the way this team was playing.

      • Indeed they did. The Isles of course had something to do with that. They are good defensively. They could make noise in the playoffs with good goal tending too. If they can score some.

I didn’t see much in-game adjusting going on by the Rangers. That might be on the coaches, unless the team is just not executing.
