NY Rangers Game 4 Open Thread: No one likes Pittsburgh

The Rangers have given us their worst, their best, and their expected. Now they get the Penguins, who have received just awful goaltending this season. This means one of two things: This is going to be a high scoring game, or this is going to be a Penguins shutout. You know how this works, there’s no in between.

Joking aside, we will get Alexis Lafreniere on the top line today. Pavel Buchnevich, off to a great start, moves down to hopefully jump start the Panarin-Strome duo, which has struggled to start the season. The PDG-Chytil-Kakko trio, the Rangers’ best line thus far, remains intact. Tony DeAngelo returns to the lineup as well.

  • Should be a fun match-up tonight! Two elite centers in Crosby & Malkin – even if they’re leaving their prime – backed up by a questionable D-corps, playing an aggressive puck pursuit forechecking system… predicting at least 5 total goals scored when all is said & done!

  • Nice match up by Sullivan sending the Crosby line over the board’s whenever he sees JJ is on the ice. Chytil with some nice hands to get his 2nd goal of the early season.

    • By the way JJ that guy there Blueger left all alone to bury the cross ice pass…..That’s your man.

  • Johnson, Johnson, Johnson, what did Smith do or not do, to be scratched for Johnson, Johnson, Johnson? Especially with Smith adding some grit and possible offense. Maybe, the Rangers can establish a fourth line with a personality
of sorts. Lemieux, Gauthier, Smith. (Some grit and offense?)
Or, Lemieux, Rooney, Gauthier. (Penalty kill efficiency?)
