The NY Rangers have signed center Colin Blackwell to a two year contract.

This is their second defensive-minded center signed in an hour, inking Kevin Rooney to a two year deal earlier today. Blackwell bounced between the AHL and NHL, putting up 3-7-10 in 27 games with Nashville last season.
Blackwell is much more well rounded than Rooney, and does contribute a little more offensively. The 27 year old will also likely compete for a 12/13F role with the Rangers while also being exposed in the expansion draft.
For the Rangers, Colin Blackwell represents some decent depth, and potentially more.
