Igor Shesterkin's workload is the key to the Rangers second half.

An injury update on Igor Shesterkin – he is at practice today after his surprising absence from yesterday’s Game 1 loss.

There are three goalies on the ice in this picture, so it’s clear Shesterkin had a last minute injury pop up. His status for tomorrow’s Game 2 is uncertain.

If Shesterkin is good to go, he is the presumed starter for the Rangers. However, Henrik Lundqvist was solid in Game 1, throwing gasoline onto the goalie debate fire. If Lundqvist faltered, then this would have been an easy decision. Lundqvist was arguably the only reason yesterday’s game was close, and all three goals were unstoppable by any goalie.

David Quinn has been playing coy with his lineup. We likely won’t get a confirmed starter until tomorrow just before game time.
