NY Rangers Game 70 Open Thread: It’s not who you play, it’s when you play them

The Avs are hobbled and the Rangers need to take advantage

After last night’s strong win against Dallas, the Rangers are back at it tonight in Denver against the hobbled Avs. Already without Mikko Rantanen and Nazem Kadri, it was announced that the Avs would be without Nathan MacKinnon as well. That’s a huge loss for the Avs, and this is a time when the Rangers need to take advantage.

The Blueshirts are currently 4th in the wild card hunt, three back of Columbus with a game in hand. They also need to leapfrog the Islanders, whom they trail by two points, but the Isles have a game in hand. Remember that the Rangers just need to get to a tie for the WC2 spot, as they hold the tiebreaker.

The Blueshirts are also now without Filip Chytil, who was injured in the first period last night against the Stars. Steven Fogarty was the emergency recall for tonight’s game.

  • Strome could have had the all time record with goals in one game by a single player … if he could hit the side of a barn he should have had at least 8-9 goals and ended up with the big goose egg .

    KS!!

    • That’s not even an exaggeration,he should have had a minimum of 4 goals,if he could find the net,I’m happy we got a point, but it should have been a win.

  • So true about Strome he needs to get the friggin puck on net. I don’t typically complain about the refs but that was brutal. Why not just give the Avs the 2 points at the beginning and not bother playing the game. Utter bull crap.
