Henrik Lundqvist and Carter Hart brought their A games for this one, dueling each other to a scoreless first and one goal apiece in the second before the Flyers got the eventual game winner from ex-Ranger Kevin Hayes in the third. The Flyers added a third goal for insurance off a good rush and then Hayes added another. And then the Flyers scored another. Sigh.
- I liked that pregame interview with JD. He’s very well spoken and, while the interview wasn’t very candid, was still something I enjoyed.
- Why would MSG show the Alec Martinez goal? Why?
- Brett Howden looks good on the wing. Who would’ve thought?
- Kevin Hayes damn near killed that entire penalty himself. He’s still good.
- Also, that 5-on-3 wasn’t that bad, good puck movement, but good lord shoot the puck.
- Also Filip Chytil with a great play on that Claude Giroux breakaway.
- Henrik Lundqvist is dialed in, again. I wouldn’t mind if he stopped 99 shots and just threw something at AV.
- This game does not have much flow to it – a lot of penalties will do that, but the goalies are putting on a show.
- And the Rangers finally get one, again shorthanded. The Flyers kind of forgot to defend after Carter Hart made the stop on Brady Skjei, and Jesper Fast just waited for the pass to finish.
- That Hank save on Morgan Frost. Wow.
- Eight penalties so far this game, four for each team. That’s 16 of 35 minutes with special teams.
- I feel like the game has been relatively even though. *Checks the stats* yea mostly.
- And another penalty. Yeesh this really makes the game tough to watch.
- Of course the Flyers score in the last 2 seconds of the period, and of course it’s because the let someone walk from the boards to the high slot untouched and uncontested.
- The goalies are really putting on a clinic here.
- Of course Kevin Hayes scores.
- And of course they add to the lead. Jacob Trouba got burned badly there.
- And of course Hayes scores again. And again Trouba got caught.
- And another. Just stop already.
