Game 49: Quack quack quack, Mr. Ducksworth

The Rangers are now 0-2 on their west coast swing, with a stop in Anaheim tonight to take on the surprisingly mediocre Ducks. The Ducks are a weird team, because they should be better than they are. They’ve dealt with injuries though, and the team the Blueshirts face tonight is not the team they faced earlier in the season.

For the Rangers, this is their game in hand on both Pittsburgh and the Isles. Lose this, and both leap frog (I believe it’s both, but it’s definitely at least the Pens) the Blueshirts in the standings. I know that losing helps their future more by not buying at the deadline, but I can’t for the life of me route for them to lose.

Note: West coast games stink. No recap for tomorrow. Sorry.

Ducks Systems

Randy Carlyle has the Ducks rotating between an aggressive 1-2-2 forecheck  and a passive 1-2-2. However, they mix in a 2-1-2 forecheck on occasion depending on game situation. In the defensive zone, expect a collapsing box, which will leave the point men open for opportunities. Their powerplay (umbrella) is fairly standard. On the kill, there will be a rotation of PK strategies depending on opposition setup.

I hope you feel better Dave.

A crazy prediction: A stirring performance by the Rangers cures Dave.

  2. roadrider says:

I can’t for the life of me route for them to lose.

Rooting for them to lose these days would be overkill. They’re doing a fine job of it without any encouragement.

  3. Richter1994 says:

Feel better Dave and we excuse the spelling, lol.

“but I can’t for the life of me “route” for them to lose. I’m actually sick

  4. JERRY MALEY says:

I knew what he meant. It’s been awhile since I have watched the Rangers and felt like we don’t have a chance to win. don’t like this feeling at all

  5. Chuck A says:

    Lotta Blue here tonight.
Oh, and 75 and clear skies today.

  6. Bloomer says:

Rick Nash ups his trade value and ties the game at 2.

  7. Bloomer says:

Rough night for leaky lets in 3 goals on 6shots.

  8. Leatherneck says:

    Get better Dave

I can’t emphasize SELL any clearer than that

They just don’t have it. I would add Zibby to the sell list. Zibby and McDonagh are so similiar….ton of talent but no battle level…..Gomer Pyle had more ommmphhhh to him than these two combined…..lol

    • Bloomer says:

I get what your saying about Zibby. However when you pair him up with some gritty wingers he’s more effective.

  9. Bloomer says:

Grabs keeps on scoring he has speed to burn.

  10. Leatherneck says:

Not selling Grabner at this time is going to be a huge HUGE mistake. Yeah I like the guy too, but I like my Rangers more.
Grabner has been nothing short of amazing and I was also on the bandwagon that he couldn’t repeat last years exploits

He can fetch you a 1st, a solid prospect and another pick easily

  11. King Sieveqvist ! King Sieveqvist ! says:

    Difference was Gibson

  12. Dunc says:

Missed the first period, but apart from Grabner’s shorty, the Rangers appeared to be sleepwalking for the rest of the game.

Except for McDonagh, who was actively bad.
