Top stories last week (paused for the Olympics, so just the last week):
- The Rangers extended their points streak to 4 games with an OT loss to Columbus and a win over Toronto before getting steamrolled by the Devils.
- This week’s Patreon post (subscribe here!), Dave talked why we might need to wait until the draft to see the meat of the retool trades. Turns out, he was right. A broken clock is right twice a day, after all.
- Live From the Blue Seats discussed the Rangers trade deadline and lack of trades.
- The Rangers made 3 trades at the deadline, moving on from Sam Carrick and Brennan Othmann while flipping Derrick Pouliot for an actual asset. It’s possible Carrick wasn’t in their plans until they saw the center market.
- The Rangers did not move on from Vincent Trocheck, which was surprising to say the least.
- Before the trade deadline, JT Miller was put on IR. Jaro Chmelar and Juuso Parssinen were recalled, with Brendan Brisson and Scott Morrow returning to the AHL to make room. It was an odd day.
- The Adam Fox quote and his future with the Rangers are both big problems.
- Brandon is confident that Chris Drury will be fired by embarrassing James Dolan enough to force his hand.
- And finally, given where the Rangers are, it’s baffling that they aren’t making more ice time for the kids to show what they have.
