The Rangers have signed AHL defenseman Dennis Cholowski. Terms of the contract have not been disclosed yet, but it’s safe to assume this is a low dollar amount at the NHL level, as Cholowski is more of an 8D and AHL defenseman. It looks like the 28 year old left defenseman is going to be behind Matthew Robertson and Urho Vaakanainen on the depth chart, meaning he’s either the 8D or 9D, playing mostly in Hartford.
It’s worth noting that Dennis Cholowski has 173 NHL games under his belt, putting up 13-29-42 in those games. He played 17 games with the Devils last season, so he can fill in in a pinch. Cholowksi joins Marc Del Gaizo–again not Michael Del Zotto–as the incoming veterans to fill out the Wolf Pack blue line.
