Adam Fox is the Rangers 2026 King Clancy Trophy nominee, which is rather symbolic of his tenure with the Rangers and his leadership overall. Fox has been, for some reason, ridiculed by a small but vocal sect of the fan base for deficiencies in his game that either don’t exist or are wildly overblown because of four rough games in a meaningless tournament over a year ago. Fox is, bar none, the best player on the New York Rangers.

Despite missing 27 games due to injury, Fox has 9 goals and 43 assists in 52 games, the only Rangers player at a point per game pace–though Mika Zibanejad does have 76 points in 78 games. The question with Fox isn’t about production or talent on the ice, it’s whether he will still be with the organization after this season following what can only be called questionable decisions by Team USA leadership, of which three are members of the Rangers organization, that may have torpedoed their relationship.

The King Clancy Memorial Trophy is awarded to the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community. Fox has notably contributed to supporting ALS research, donating $1,023 for every goal this season and $523 for every assist. That’s $31,696 this season with three games remaining.

Given how the Rangers performed when Fox was hurt compared to when he returned from injury, it’s safe to say the Rangers 2026 King Clancy Trophy nominee has a strong impact on the team. Given how JT Miller conducted himself this season, Fox is probably the next man up for the ‘C’ and, if it were me in the locker room, would be my de facto captain who doesn’t come off as selfish. But that’s just me, and I’m biased given the current captain’s actions.
