The Rangers have recalled forward Adam Sykora, reassigning defenseman Connor Mackey to clear roster space. Sykora, the Rangers 2nd round pick in 2022, has been with the organization for three years despite being just 21 years old. The winger is having his best statistical season of his young career, with 12 goals and 29 points in 62 games while playing a middle six role for Hartford. His 29 points are tied for 3rd for the team lead, so that’s how bad Hartford is.

Mackey had a rough game last night against Ottawa, but it’s unlikely that had a role in his reassignment. Drew Fortescue will play this year, and it looks like he’s going to be good to go for Wednesday and Thursday. Given where the Rangers are in the standings, it’s more important to get Fortescue (and Sykora) NHL minutes to help with their development.
