The Drew Fortescue wait didn’t last long. Less than a day after Boston College’s season ended, the Rangers signed him to his three year entry level contract. Fortescue, the Rangers 3rd round pick in 2023 (the Gabe Perreault draft), has quickly shot up the prospect rankings through his three years at BC. This year, his junior year, he put up 4-10-14 in 35 games while playing top pair minutes.

The Rangers decided they liked how his game progressed, that like Gabe Perreault, Drew Fortescue will join the Rangers immediately out of college. This burns the first year of his entry level contract but also gets him NHL experience immediately. It’s a bit surprising, but that’s how much the Rangers like this kid and how his game has evolved at BC.

He may not play today or tomorrow, but Fortescue will certainly get game time soon.
