The Rangers have recalled defenseman Connor Mackey from the Hartford Wolf Pack. Urho Vaakanainen left yesterday’s loss to the Devils in the first period and did not return. Mackey’s recall is likely insurance in case Vaakanainen can’t go tonight in Columbus. Noah Laba was also injured, but there is no word on his status just yet.

For what it’s worth, the Rangers want Scott Morrow to get big minutes in the AHL, which is likely one of the reasons why he wasn’t recalled, as there is no word whether Mackey will actually play. Remember Vincent Iorio is also with the Rangers, so there’s no guarantee Morrow would have played. Development isn’t linear.
