We are done here. Yesterday wasn’t a hockey game, it was a slaughter. The Rangers were never in it, and Boston never let up, putting up a 10 spot on the Rangers. This is a dark time for the Rangers. Hopefully this cements them as sellers, as in no way shape or form is buying at the deadline at option. The only positive was Mika Zibanejad remained red hot as he scored the opening goal and got an assist on the powerplay. For a group that talked a big game though at the start of the year that they were going to be hard to play against, there’s an awful lot of BS in New York these days.

The Bruins had 2 players score hat tricks, one of them scoring four, and the Rangers almost gave up a third hat trick. This team looks and plays an awful lot like the team that was around last year, but incredibly, they look worse. I have no doubts that Mike Sullivan is a great coach given his track record in Pittsburgh with some pretty mediocre rosters, but it speaks volumes that even under his coaching, this group is still a collective mess.

The writing is on the wall, and it’s now time to shift philosophies and start running out the kids instead of whatever veterans are left after the sell off. The veterans have lost their ability to properly lead this team both in play and in attitude, and it’s time for the coaching to match the need for a building process now than getting whatever wins you can.

There are still 36 games left, and there’s no sign of improvement coming. With no Adam Fox and no Igor Shesterkin, the Rangers are what they are. Maybe this is what they needed, to get summarily crushed so the front office makes the right calls. Not just as sellers, but with managing those two injuries. The Rangers shouldn’t even have the playoffs in their minds, as even the best run is going to lead to a first round exit.

Who knew we’d live to see another dark ages come for this franchise? May as well load up with more 30 year olds, right?
