Rangers return Connor Mackey to Hartford, opening roster spot for Vincent Trocheck’s return

The Rangers have reassigned defenseman Connor Mackey to the Hartford Wolf Pack in the AHL. Mackey was recalled earlier this week when the Rangers placed Matt Rempe on IR and it was reported that Urho Vaakanainen was dealing with an undisclosed injury. By returning Mackey to Hartford, it signals that Vaakanainen is likely good to go and they open a spot on the 23-man roster for Vincent Trocheck’s return.

Vaakanainen may or may not draw into the lineup tonight, and there is no word on whether Vincent Trocheck’s return will be tonight against the Isles or later next week. Given how well the Rangers played last night, perhaps Mike Sullivan runs it back, hoping to get their first win at home this season.
