The Rangers have returned prospect Nathan Aspinall to his OHL club Flint Firebirds. Aspinall was never truly in the running for a roster spot, and since he survived the first round of cuts last week, I wonder if Aspinall got a longer look from the coaching staff at practice. He wasn’t playing in any preseason games, again expected for a kid who was 100% being sent back to the OHL, but an extra week with the Rangers suggests either an injury or a longer look.
Aspinall, the Rangers 5th round pick in 2024, is another giant at 6’7 and 195 lbs. The 19 year old (20 in March) will look to follow in the footsteps of Matt Rempe, Adam Edstrom, and Dylan Roobroeck as literal giants that can actually play this fun little game we call hockey.
