With their fourth round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, the New York Rangers selected center (finally) Mikkel Eriksen from Norway. The 5’11, 187 lb center put up 22-21-43 in 40 games in the Swedish Juniors with Farjestad. A natural playmaker, Eriksen has solid instincts but, like everyone else drafted at this point in the draft, has a long way to go before that translates to the NHL. He has a lot going for him and this is a solid value pick, but also remember it is the fourth round.

Mikkel Eriksen projects as a solid two way center with a middle-six ceiling. He isn’t overly physical, but he still plays a heavy game by getting to the dirty areas of the ice. He’s smart with the puck and solid in all three zones, but needs to see that translate to the SHL and eventually the NHL for him to become a lineup mainstay.

In terms of value, this is a solid pick. But Eriksen is a minimum of 4-5 years away from making an NHL impact.
