Good news folks, only 9 games left of whatever you can call this season. The Rangers keep finding ways to lose even though they are right outside the playoff picture. Worse, the way they are losing games screams a team that does not want to continue playing beyond the 82 game regular season. This is the biggest collection of wasted talent I think I’ve ever consumed in my young 13 year fandom. I wasn’t around for the dark ages, but if this is anything like those years, then kudos to you all for surviving. This is brutal and, as Dave says, pathetic and gutless.
The Rangers went 1/7 on the power play, blew two separate two-goal leads, and to put the cherry on top, continued their organizational incompetence at not finding the extra point in overtime.
Things seemed to be going so well entering the 3rd period. The Rangers were up 3-1 on a bad team. They eventually ripped home a power play goal breaking the goalless drought, and then came the 18-wheeler instead. This team doesn’t want to commit to defending, doesn’t want to commit to forechecking, doesn’t want to commit to the details to remain remotely competitive. They have simply checked out and seem to be actively trying to lose games. They are just going through the motions, hoping that somehow a switch will flip, one that hasn’t flipped on all season long. What an absolutely pathetic display of supposed talent.
With the remaining games on the docket, is it fair to say we haven’t seen the most embarrassing Rangers loss yet? San Jose is up next, and although they’re in the basement in the standings, they have some solid vibes this season. Is another embarrassing road loss in store for the Rangers?
Thank goodness baseball is back, I think we all are in need of a long break from this team after this taxing season.
