The Rangers have recalled forward Nicolas Aube-Kubel from the Hartford Wolf Pack. Aube-Kubel, acquired for Erik Brannstrom at the trade deadline, will likely serve as the spare forward on the California trip as Sam Carrick was not at practice for personal reasons. Aube-Kubel likely won’t get into a game with the Rangers unless there’s another injury, though.

Assuming Carrick misses the entire trip, Juuso Parssinen, Brett Berard, and Brennan Othmann will likely all draw into the lineup the next three games. This is a rare potential soft spot in the schedule for the Rangers, and though tonight in LA will be tough, they have very winnable games in Anaheim and San Jose at the end of the week.

If the Blueshirts have any hopes of making the playoffs, they need to actually show up. That’s been the issue lately.
